Attuned to the universal flow of energy present in all life from a young age, Nathan formally began a life-long study and exploration of health and well-being at the age of 17 when he began practicing yoga and meditation.
Following Liberal Arts studies at Hampshire College and graduation from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1984, he spent six months of deep immersion in spiritual practice and service at a traditional Hindu Monastery in Hawaii. The profound experience of living and working under the close guidance of Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, his spiritual mentor, set the foundation for his life and future healing practice..
Further developing his understanding of human health, Nathan attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree (D.C.) in 1991. After a one year associate-ship in Illinois he moved to California and served as a staff Doctor at True North Health, a residential multi-disciplinary clinic near Santa Rosa, where he provided natural healthcare through supervised fasting, diet and lifestyle modification, yoga and chiropractic
Drawn irresistibly to the mountains and beauty of Northern California, he and wife Sulena moved to Mount Shasta, CA in 1993 where he lives and practices into the present.
In addition to healing work, Dr. Sivananda enjoys family and friends, music, gardening, photography, travel, triathlon and vegetarian cooking.
“Caring for ourselves and each other, seeking balance on all levels, honors and reflects our divine nature into creation. This process is a journey and a gift that benefits all.” – N. Sivananda
